Neth went on an expedition with Pafi to another country. Hi told Manu to take care of the laboratory in the meantime.

They packed their suitcases and departed with the helicopter.
The route from their headquarters to Hong Kong was quite short. Or at least it felt like such. Since it was early summer, the views on Earth were breathtaking. Even the posthuman species appreciates the values of a sunny day.

Upon arrival, Pafi felt quite anxious about the place. However, hi ignored the feeling initially. It was a brand new place, after all. Like nowhere else.

"This seems like an unique place. Human architecture styles are blending with each other, giving a new life to places", Manu said, "However, this is not what we're here for."
Pafi glanced at Manu for a moment, wondering what did hi mean by that.

"You see, a befriended expedition team that usually does research here disappeared for some reason."

When both of them took a walk around some of the districts, they noticed various writings on walls, some of them were repeated. To their disappointment, they weren't capable of reading them.
"I think these might be related to the disappearance", Pafi uttered.
"You see, when I contacted my friend from the local team, hi told me about the strange case of this country-city.
When humans reigned this planet, at one point in the human history there was a cruel specimen who was considered the ruler of this place.
This might sound weird, but..."
"A ruler? Sounds like a human thing. You mean, they let one person decide about everyone else's fate?" Manu interrupted hir.
"Let's say so. I have read up on human hierarchy, and in their history there were things called 'countries'. Every country had their own 'leader'. Despite that, almost all countries were united under one structure. You should read about it too.", Pafi continued.
"Anyways - During this reign, there would be clashes between humans and the power-holders. While this phenomenon is not new in the history, this place is one of the stranger ones... as the ones fighting against the power would disappear", hi says.
"It's called 'jail'. In human culture, it is a place for everyone who breaks the rules. It was a form of punishment.", Manu adds.

"Not really... you see, even if someone gets into the jail, kin humans would still be in touch with the wrongdoer, right? In this case... they literally disappeared. Nowhere to be found.", Pafi uttered, realizing how unreal this is of a behavior.

The further the team has went into the city, the worse the atmosphere was getting. Both of them could feel a strange aura in this place. One could tell this was a life-blooming place, but the sprinkle of uncertainty of one's life sparked by its past always crawled behind the two.

"Undocumented whereabouts are always much worse and cruel than a documented murder.", Manu said.

Both have wandered further into the darkest corners of the city.

Neth came back from hir laboratory's warehouse, carrying an indigo cube and a weird-looking control device.
"What exactly... is this?" Manu asked hir.
Neth put down the cube and started plugging in cables from the screen to the box, in the meantime trying to think of an answer.
"This is an entertainment box. It has been discovered in a human's house." hi replies, while continuing to set up the station.

The cube suffered some damage from not being used in centuries. It needed to stay in a warmer place and had to get some digital bathing.

"You see, I've been conducting research about human entertainment for a long time. My studies have concluded that one of the major factors in human entertainment were the plastic boxes."
Manu keeps listening to the theory whipped up by Neth as if the oldest truths of the universe were revealed in front of hir.

"Entertainment boxes came in various shapes and sizes over the human decades. In human literature, they're also called the "video game consoles". The metal bits and bytes inside it were the most important parts, as without them it would not work." Neth says, as hi manages to turn on the cube.

The screen shows a cube placing squares in the shape of a human letter G. It soon transitions into the settings screen.

"Here is the best part. Entertainment boxes would almost never work on their own... at least the older ones. You needed a disc or a rectangular data container, known in human literature as a "cartridge". The box I have uses discs... I think I have some in my warehouse."

Neth went to look for a disc. In the meantime, Manu grabbed the control pad trying to figure out what is this silly little thing. It was in the same color as the box itself.
After some time Manu realized that when the menu screen is on, hi could hear the ambience coming out of the screen speakers.
The ambience is somewhat sounding like space. It rang a familiar tone to Manu.

Neth came back with a plastic case containing a disc. After putting it in, the screen has changed to a rather unrealistic view of a sea with a cliff hosting a small hut on it. The music has changed to something only a human would be able to listen to.

"See? This is human entertainment. This media in particular was widely praised by humans all across the world.", hi said

"So you're saying the humans praised the sea despite their culture differences?", Manu replied.

"There's a lot more that unified humans rather than divided them.", Neth said.
